Concept: Task

Definition

A task represents the most important part of the work breakdown. The users assigned to a task can visualize all the widgets configured in that task, which means that they read or edit all the property values linked to those widgets, information that they require in order to perform their work. The widgets are added before-hand by a configurator or a project manager, which has an overview of the entire work breakdown structure and knows the inputs and outputs required at the certain stage in the project.

Task form components

At the top of the task form there is by default a Metapanel widget which is used to show all the information needed about the task itself, such like:

• name;
• description;
• progress;
• assignees;
• status;
• start and due date.

Finally, using the breadcrumbs on top of the task form, a user can immediately start navigating throughout the work breakdown.

PDF download

The task and its containing widgets can be downloaded to a PDF document. This is particular useful when users want to deliver the content of said task to their customers. However, not all widgets displayed in a task are shown inside the PDF. For the list of widgets currently included in the PDF, please check the widgets page.

The layout of the PDF is self explanatory. At the top of each page is the logo of the company using KE-chain. If your company's logo is not showing in the PDF download, then please contact the Service Desk. Next to the logo as well as at the bottom of the page, there is always the name of the task that has been exported to PDF, as well as the name of the project. Both of these titles are links which point back to KE-chain in order to easily be able to trace your work. The PDF can be downloaded in multiple paper formats: A0, A1, A2, A3 and A4, as well as the Automatic option, which is recommended for tasks that contain very large Basic/Paginated table widgets with a particularly long horizontal scrollbar. Selecting the orientation of the page is also an important feature (portrait or landscape). The Appendices represent the Attachment and Location information properties included in the task. The images or PDFs contained by these properties will also be visible if this option is turned on. However, the PDF will be sent to your email in this case. Ticking on the QR code functionality will add a code at the end of the export which can be later used to access the form even if it has already been printed. It also highlight the changes between the moment you visualize the form and the point when that PDF was generated.

Below you can find two PDF exports of the same task. The leftmost one has been exported without appendices, while the rightmost one had the appendices included. Both of them show the Attachment previewer widget, but only the right one shows also the attachment files that are included in the attachment properties called "Diagram" of the "Wheel". The second one also uses the concept of anchors, which link the properties to the appendix displayed.
